Ocean, farm fields and mountain views weren’t the only breath-taking things found on Gabriola Island that sunny day. Hilary and Josh had come over from Vancouver and were ready to exchange their hand written vows amongst their closest family and friends at the quaint and secluded, Dragon Lodge. Guests took their seats along the coastline to watch beautiful bride, Hilary, walk down her salal lined aisle, only to meet her handsome groom, Josh, at the waters edge. After tears turned into laughter, it was now time to introduce this madly in-love duo as husband and wife.
The four of us jumped into the Mazda and headed off to a few of the interesting locations that Hilary and Josh had previously discovered. We spent this time capturing the love they not only shared between the two of them, but the adoration they had for the west coast.
The warmth in the air didn’t stop me from leaving their wedding with an abundance of goosebumps on my skin. …. I couldn’t stop smiling and thinking about how the sweet simplicity of that day truly made it everything Hilary and Josh could ever ask for. They focussed less on the “stuff” and more on each other. It’s important to remember that weddings aren’t all about the latest pins on pinterest, and what you can do to one up your best friend’s wedding. Being present in the moment, and slowing down to enjoy it with your soul mate is really what makes this day special and unforgettable … and well some photos of the day to spark the memories of course
