The most beautiful autumn day fell on Christina and Damon’s wedding. It had rained the entire week leading up to the Oakey’s big day and let me tell you, the sun couldn’t have been warmer and the leaves couldn’t have been brighter. Everything seemed to fall into place so perfectly; The beautiful bride, bridesmaids, mother and grandma all dazzled up at Tigh-Na-Mara’s Grotto Spa, leaving plenty of time to snack, sip on some drinks and stay calm for what was to come. The man of the hour, and his main men were next door, doing what guys do… but this time it was the guy’s room that seemed a little more tense to me. Damon was a little nervous and this only validated once again his love for Christina.
Although I was running around like a crazy person (this seems to be a common theme for me at weddings), I was still moved by the ceremony. It was everything you would want your ceremony to be…. emotional, on time, and filled with laughs. When picture time came around, we were so lucky that the tide was out at Rathtrevor Beach. We might have gotten a little wet and muddy (or if you were me, a few soakers!), but that’s how great pictures are made. Christina’s ivory, lace dress did taste the mud a little more than it wanted to, but hey, it was only proof to her and everyone else that she was the down to earth, easy going gal that we all knew she was.
Often for me, my most favourite part of the day is photographing the “getting ready” stages of the wedding. It must be the nervousness in the room and the excitement for what’s to come that I like. However at Christina and Damon’s wedding, I really enjoyed the dancing. Fun was had by all on the dance floor including everyone from the children to the grandparents. Although there were two separates sides at the reception, you never would have known it. It really did appear as if they were one big family…
Christina and Damon, it was such a pleasure to capture this day for you. I hope you can look back on these images and remember the day just as it was… sentimental, unique and a whole lot of fun
