Melissa fell head-over-heels the moment she met Mat. They met at an engagement party and she refused to let him leave without her. One thing lead to another, and the next thing they knew, Melissa and Mat were having an engagement party of their own.
Now it was time for me to have my love at first sight moments of my own. I don’t know how many times I fell in love on Melissa and Mat’s wedding day…
When Melissa informed me that the only reason they were having a wedding was because they wanted pictures of it, I knew if I didn’t love this couple already (which I totally did), I would now. The pressure of delivering some kick a$$ photos may have been a little more than usual, but I loved it. Knowing that the images captured on their wedding would be forever treasured, made me so honoured to be present on this day.
I loved Melissa’s satin, long sleeved, “Breaking Dawn” inspired gown that hung so delicately on her petite frame. I loved the way she pulled her chocolate brown hair back into an elegant up do and placed a cathedral veil on it.
The sunset that evening left me feeling a little weak in the knees. As if I wasn’t already floating on cloud 9 that day, loving every minute of that bright sun, glowing veil and a bride and groom that were amazing to direct…. Once that sun started to fall, I knew we were about to make some pretty epic photographs.
What I loved most of all was spending that gorgeous fall afternoon on Quadra Island shooting a couple so in love with each other, it often made me a little sick… but a good sick way if you know what I mean. ;)
