I arrived on Thetis Island feeling anxious and excited as I normally do on a wedding day. When I was greeted by a room full of hospitable, beautiful, young women at the Overbury Resort, all of those wedding day butterflies seemed to have just flew away. Although it was the first time meeting Kate and her posse, I quickly learned why Steve had fell so hard for her. Kate was a laid-back, kind, bubbly blonde with the most contagious laugh I have ever heard. On top of being so beautiful on the inside, she was drop-dead gorgeous on the out.
Throughout the day, I realized there was yet another reason why I loved being a part of so many weddings. Listening to vows, speeches and casual chit-chat, I have the opportunity of getting to know the good and the bad behind every love story. My favourite that day: The two first laid eyes on each other while working at a pub in Vancouver. Steve, an experienced bartender from the big city, was challenged by the ever-so-innocent, Kate, to a beer chugging contest. Kate had stolen Steve’s heart at that very moment, as she finished her drink much quicker than he did. From that moment on, Steve knew he’d met his match.
I left that wedding feeling as if I needed more people in my life like Kate and Steve, the kind of people that make you feel all warm and homey. As I spent the day with these two, it became apparent to me why a vast amount of the guests travelled from afar. They too needed more Kate and Steve in their life.

Only the finest bourbon for Steve and the guys.
There’s something about a navy suit that just looks so dapper.
Kate was honoured to wear a family heirloom-her grandmother’s ring.
There’s a reason why they call them “bridesmaids”. These gals were hard at work all day making sure Kate enjoyed herself as much as possible.
Steven sent his new brother-in-law, Jesse, over to the girls room to deliver a special note from him. To avoid too many tears, Kate allowed Dominique to read it out loud in a Dracula voice. Clever thinking girls.
There’s just something so adorable about kids and bubbles…
Why is it that the father-daughter dance melts my heart every time?
I’m so happy that I was fortunate enough to stay for their first dances. I may have had to book it to the ferry, but it was totally worth it.
