On July 11th, I was invited to capture the wedding between Ra and David. Every wedding is unique and unpredictable, but this wedding was going to be a little different for me; the morning would consist of a traditional Cambodian wedding ceremony held in Ra and Dave’s backyard in Victoria, followed by a traditional Canadian wedding ceremony at the English Inn.
One of my favourite things to do while I am travelling is immersing myself into other cultures and experiencing them first hand. I had journeyed through Cambodia a few years ago, so I had a general idea of what to expect, but actually being involved in a Cambodian wedding ceremony, now that was something I’ve never got to do. There were bright coloured outfits, a street parade, lots of ethnic food and rituals I had never witnessed before. Although Ra and Dave knew this was going to be a bit different from my usual weddings, they trusted that I would be on my toes and ready to photograph whatever would come my way.
Thank you both for this opportunity. I cannot express how much fun it’s been meeting you two. Ra, you looked absolutely amazing all day. Even after changing into various different dresses, you still managed to look flawless and keep your hair in tact. Dave, like many of us, you weren’t exactly sure what was going on or what was going to happen next, but you were so patient and devoted to your new wife and Ra loves you for that. -KBxox
Stay tuned for Ra and Dave’s slideshow as well as the traditional Canadian ceremony… I will be posting it soon
